You returned from an earlier unjust war which our country participated in and helped turn that situation around by your courageous testimony. We need you now to take leadership and return our soldiers from the madness in which they are mired.

Dear Senator Kerry,
Our son, a member of the Army Reserve is presently serving in Iraq as a mental health worker. He is busy ten to twelve housrs a day with soldiers who come to his clinic for care. This war has taken a terrible toll in the physical and mental health of those who are asked to participate in it.
Meanwhile, at home, we have no funds to treat the mentally ill, house the homeless, care for the elderly or educate our children properly. Our environment is degraded by greed and is no longer part of the public trust.
You returned from an earlier unjust war which our country participated in and helped turn that situation around by your courageous testimony. We need you now to take leadership and return our soldiers from the madness in which they are mired.
Our son was working with mentally ill teenagers here in Boston before he was called up to treat those made insane by conditions of war which no young person should be asked to participate in. You know what the price of war is upon our soldiers. Young people want to serve their country, but thier idealism is betrayed by the goal of this conflict which is imperial and serves only those who control oil in our country.
We have seen where this war is taking us. Not one more Iraqi or American life should be lost to benefit those who are taking us ever deeper in grief and guilt. Our soldiers come home and spend the rest of their lives with the knowledge that they killed innocent people. Friends in our generation are still suffering the wounds of Viet Nam. Now our children are asked to repeat these terrible mistakes.
Another day in the war in Iraw is too long. Return our young people to serve here where their skills are needed now. Refuse to fund death and destruction and take that money to fund postiive life affirming projects here at home and around the world. We need a leader. We need senators and representatives who will speak the truth to power.
with high hopes,
Sarah and Robert Fuhro,
Natick,
parents of Army reserve mental health technician John Fuhro,
