The stress for military families is very real. It is not a "laughing" matter.

The stress for military families is very real. It is not a "laughing" matter. While I am not suprised that the Pentagon would come up with an idea like this as another way to downplay the realities of this war, I am disappointed that USA TODAY would print such a story.
As the mother of an Iraq Combat Soldier, I will never forget the nightmare months when I lived in 24 hour dread. Imagine not knowing if your child is dead or alive- knowing there could be a knock at the door any minute.
Families are being ripped apart at their very core by the strain of extended deployments, incredible violence in Iraq, and dealing with the trauma of combat while in Iraq and when they come back home.
An article like this comes across as a mockery of their daily agony with the struggles that are unique to service in time of war.
